In Memory

(Jan) Robert L. Cleven

Robert Cleven

Robert Cleven, of Petoskey, died Feb. 13, 2013, at McLaren Northern Michigan. He was 74.

He was born to Arthur and Genevieve (Olson) Cleven on Aug. 21, 1938, in Lansing, where he also grew up and attended school.

On Dec. 9, 1961, he married the love of his life, Virginia "Ginny" Sydow, in Brutus. The couple made their home in Alanson, raising two children.

Robert worked in the building trades as a skilled carpenter his entire adult life. He operated his own business as a contractor and builder for more than 20 years, building many area homes. In 1991, Robert and Ginny built a home near Brutus on the Maple River. Robert and Ginny spent several wonderful years on the river, enjoying all it had to offer. Ginny sadly preceded Robert in death in October of 1998. For the last several years, Robert has lived in Petoskey at the Riverview Terrace Apartments where he made a number of close friends.

Robert is survived by his children, Jim (Jackie) Cleven and Susan (Jeff) Pulaski; his grandchildren include, Andy, Dylan, Hunter, Mitch and Audri. He is also survived by three sisters, Carol, Theresa and Sharon.

A graveside service is planned for later this spring.

Arrangements are by Stone Funeral Home, Petoskey.

Received an email from Jim Clark that Bob Claven had died in 2013. Thanks Jim.

Bob was a friend in school and a good guy.
