Jorge Luis Benavides, 56 joined our Lord in his heavenly kingdom on Friday, July 31, 2009. Jorge was born on January 22, 1953 to parents Armando and Arabella Benavides. He began his career in the family construction business and shortly after founded the Mohawk Carpet Business in Laredo; he also established the Distinctive Designs Company. Later in life he was a Construction Supervisor for L.I.S.D. and was a City Manager for Rio Bravo. He will be greatly missed by family and friends. He was preceded in death by his son Jorge Luis Benavides, Jr.; and his parents Armando and Arabella Benavides. He is survived by his loving children, who were his pride and joy, Cristina Michelle (John) Duncan, Celina (Peter) Clifton and Alonzo Javier Benavides all from Houston, Texas; and by his beloved grandchildren Andrew Thomas and Nicholas Michael Duncan. He is also survived by his sisters Arabella (Gerald) Stone, Patricia B. (Lauro) Garcia, Norma B. (Richard) Cole, and Margarita (Huey) Boulet; brothers Armando Javier Benavides, and Sergio Gerardo (Ana Lydia) Benavides; and by numerous nieces and nephews.
