STILL RUNNING WILD!
Oh what a night! We want to express our thanks to all the classmates who braved the rain and cold weather to join us at Perico’s for the San Antonio Classmate Pachanga on Saturday night, March 10, 2012. The restaurant facilities were great, the service was fantastic, the food was delicious, and we even had a Nixon graduate from the Class of 2001 overseeing our party so it almost seemed like home. The decorations and Mustang statue caught the attention of the assistant manager Joe Garza and he graciously added an extra dimension to the service! Even though the inclement weather diminished our numbers, it did not diminish our spirit to enjoy the company of those classmates who attended, many coming from other cities. Friendships were rekindled and new ones were started. Several classmates were unable to attend because of illness or conflicts and we appreciate those who called to let us know so that we could change our accommodations at the restaurant. The party continued two hours beyond our contracted time for use of the banquet room due to the exuberance of the party.
The sparkling conversations included helicopter expertise, and limousine excursions. You know who you are! ;) Many memories were brought back to our thoughts of old friends and fast times at Nixon High! LOL!
Paul Gallego kept the crowd entertained with some of his humorous pundits. Gracie Gonzalez graced us with delicious gifts of homemade pumpkin bread. Richard Gutierrez brought his lovely wife Lisa as she accompanied him from Del Rio, Texas. Cris Mussett traveled from Laredo to represent the Reunion Committee and served as Assistant Treasurer for the event -- being a certified County Extension Agent, she provided the USDA-approved prime party conversation. Eddie Castillon offered to provide free nitrous oxide gas for the balloons at the reunion and we won’t tell you which color will have the special gas – the green or the gold. You’ll have to find that out on your own. Joe and Lita Ramos Salazar, the owners of the McDonald’s on Evans & Hwy 281 in San Antonio were there. We hoped that they would offer free Happy Meals but since we were so happy already, it wasn’t necessary. Juan "Coneja" and Janie Cantu kept us enthralled with travel stories and future plans to tour Europe.
A Chevy Tahoe was to be raffled at the end of the night. Everyone was surprised when the owner sobered up and decided not to raffle it after all. You would have had to have been there to understand. Just a lesson of what a few margaritas can do! LOL!
Thanks guys for making the evening one to remember! All your help is greatly appreciated! The Pachanga lived up to its theme, “Still Running Wild!”
Now it’s on to the Main Event – our upcoming 40th Reunion on Memorial Day Weekend!!
