I retired 2 years ago as a Financial Analyst with the U.S. Federal Government, then my wife and I moved to Silver City, which is only 45 miles from Lordsburg. I joined the U.S. Air Force right after high school. A year later, I was accepted as an exchanged student, under an Air Force educational program, to Sophia University, Tokyo, Japan. While I was in Japan, in addition to attending the university, I participated and obtained the rank of third degree black belt in Judo, Karate, and Aikido. After graduating, I returned stateside after spending six years in Japan, as a student and assigned to an Air Force base there, which allowed me to be involved with marshal arts presentations to the troops in the Pacific and Vietnam. The following year, when I returned from the Far East, at the end of my second enlistment, I was honorably discharged. While working for the federal government, I traveled all over the United States, the Caribbean, and the Pacific area, covering Hawaii, Guam, Micronesian and American Samoa. I lived in the San Fransico Bay Area and Sacramento, CA for over thirty years, while I was working and traveling for the government. Over the years, I, also, had several opportunities to travel to Europe with church and opera choirs performing in Italy, France, Spain, Portugal, England and Scotland. I have published several poems, and the one I am most proud of received an Editor's Award; thus, I was invited to recite the poem at The National Library of Poetry's annual meeting in Washington, D.C.
