I graduated from Northwestern in 1965, worked for ABC News in Chicago and L.A., for the CBS TV affiliate in Sacramento and then managed Jerry Brown's campaigns for secretary of state (1970) & governor (1974). Was chairman of the state Air Resources Board from '75 to '79 and ran City News Service in L.A. from 1980 until 2013. Between 1982 and 1998 I also headed Americom Broadcasting in Fresno, Las Vegas and Reno, and chaired Los Angeles Mayor Tom Bradley's reelection campaign in 1985. More recently I was a member of the governing board of the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency (TRPA). Currently I'm president of Reno Media Group and a principal of Matley Properties. I was active in Jerry Brown's 2010 campaign and helped head up his gubernatorial transition, working primarily on state budget issues.
