I am so sorry for your loss.  I would see her occasionally in the grocery store here in Solon and believe that at least one of her son's graduated with my kids.  She was such a sweetheart!

Just heard about Ieva's passing. So upsetting. We were on the majorette corp together. Many of my fondest memories of the corp include her and I  laughing about some crazy thing that happened at practice or the game. We nicknamed ourselves Mutt and Jeff after the cartoon characters. She was tall and in the last line, while I was short and in the first line., just like those cartoon fellows.

My sincere condolences to her family and close friends. She was a sweet, beautiful person. I will treasure my memories of our short time together.

Sincerely,

Claudia Schuck Berarducci

My deepest sympathies  go out to Ieva's family. I remember her as a lovely and kind girl in high school.  My sister, Barb, that graduated in 1969 was also very fond of her. They participated in majorettes together.  We were both very sad to hear of her passing.  Priscilla Capuano Gompers

As I read through all of these remembrances, I'm struck by the consistency... Ieva was a lovely and nice person!   I can certainly add to that...she was!  I'll add my condolences to her family and close friends.  I have several pleasant memories of Ieva, but for some reason, one stands out.  I seem to recall that a bunch of us ended up at Ieva's house after an event to watch a movie.  Something like "War and Peace" or "Dr. Shivago". It was probably some kind of homework assignment.  It was such a pleasant evening.  Does anyone remember that?  Good bye Ieva.    Bill Young

I am sad to hear of the passing of Ieva. Ieva and I were friends through our years in homeroom together. I am glad she was there. She was a kind, gentle friend. I hope her family will find comfort in knowing she was a blessing to so many. Cyndy Lange Vasu

Just joined this site and this is the first update I read....so sad!  Ieva was a truly great person and I remember vividly her talking about going home for lunch because lunchtime was their dinnertime/family time.  Don't know why that stuck with me but it did.  So sorry to hear.

I remember when Ieva showed up at Richmond elementary school - 3rd or 4th grade, I think.  For some reason, Hugh Leslie wanted to tease her about being Jewish - she wasn't - Latvian I think - but it ticked her off.  She had a temper.  Actually, the only memory I have of her is bristling at peoples' comments - glad to hear otherwise.  Why anyone would want to bug her is beyond me.

Not to play Gandalf Storm Crow - but what the heck - I am given to understand from comments posted here that it probably was a good time to be on the majorette corps at Brush - I remember the colored flashbulbs  in the flashlights while in the marching band.  Sandy Sieman, who was co-fire captain with me at Richmond in the 6th grade was in that too.  I wonder how the other 49.583335% of the Brush girls felt about it?  Never hurts to be born pretty.  Talk amongst ya-selves!

I absolutely adored Ieva, from the moment I met her. Always a beautiful smile and a kind word. She was fun and funny with such a gentle and wise spirit. I always wondered how such a beautiful person inside and out, was created for all of us to be inspired and comforted by. Ieva, I think of you often and want your family to know that you were so loved, by so many. I will always know your presence is with us each time I see the stars twinkling above. Thank you for all of the love you shared with so many of us. We miss you every day. xo Sally
