After graduating from Miami University in 1994, I got married and we moved to Columbus, Ohio. We lived there for a little over 6 years, and our son, Cole, was born. My husband, Doug, had been sick for quite awhile, and in 2000, we moved to Cincinnati to be closer to his family. In February of 2001, Doug passed away. In the Fall of 2001, I took Cole to a children's grief support group called Fernside. There he became good friends with a little girl, Abbey, whose mother had passed away suddenly in March. Abbey and Cole became close friends, and Abbey's father, Matt, and I started to talk and become friends. We found we had a lot in common, and best of all, we were really able to support each other having gone through such traumatic losses. Eventually, our friendship developed into love, and we got married in 2002. I feel so lucky to have been brought together with Matt, and also to now have two daughters. We have been truly blessed!
