the manassas park fire department is mourning the loss of a man described as a "beloved fixture" in the department for more than 30 years. retired lt. john michael viggiano, 54, who served in the manassas park fire department for 31 years died suddenly of a heart attack september 29 2013. john also known as "viggi", grew up on pierce street in manassas park and dedicated his life and career to the city residents. he was hired in august 1977 and worked there till his retirement in february 2009, he left a deep and lasting mark on the city fire department. john represented the city and its department at its finest. he was a well known and respected gentleman that touched everyone he came across, we will be greatly missed.
