After graduating from Lincoln, I spent 2 years at the Center in Manitowoc, 1 year at the University of WI-Oshkosh, and then graduated from the University of WI-Madison, with a BS in Physical Therapy.
I married Tom Barbeau a Manitowoc native in 1987, before my junior year at Madison. After graduation, we moved to Oshkosh where I worked at Mercy Medical Center for 2 years. After realizing that we had different priorities we divorced. I moved to Appleton after meeting my second husband Pasquale DeMaria. I worked for a few years at St. Elizabeth's hospital and married Pasquale in 1993. We both wanted to move some place warmer that didn't have as much snow, but still had 4 seasons. We decided on Akron, OH, because it was between WI and his hometown of Allentown, PA. After moving to Ohio, we celebrated the birth of 2 little boys within 14 months and life seemed perfect. I took a job with Edwin Shaw Rehab and I worked part time and got to spend a lot of time with my boys. Unfortunately, 4 days before my youngest son's first birthday, he left and we have not seen him since. Ultimately, it was a blessing in disguise, because after several years of dating, and starting to write a very funny book on the subject, I met my current husband, Bob Heidt. He was my son's cub scout leader. We married in August of 2004. He is the love of my life, and I definitely believe, the third time is the charm. We have traveled all over the US, Mexico and the Carribean. I have been with Edwin Shaw now for 14 years and have helped start 3 new outpatient clinics and currently manage one clinic, but still get the luxury of treating patients part time.
Life is never boring in the "Heidtaria" household with 4 very active boys. The 3 oldest are all into football, and the middle 2 also wrestle(which I absolutely hate!). The yougest one plays soccer, which is really popular in Ohio. My youngest son also has Aspergers (a mild form of autism), but is so incredibly intelligent, he amazes me. The house is a little overloaded with testerone, but I manage to hold my own.
Hopefully in a few years, when we are ready to retire we will move some place that actually is warmer and forget having seasons.
