The most highly commissioned monumental sculptor in the US with more than 80 major public art commissions since 2000. Clients include The Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, The US Olympic Committee, The US Air Force Academy, The Cities of Beijing and Shanghai, Metro Goldwyn Mayer and Purdue University.
Jon has sculpted portraits of such celebrities as Dick Van Dyke, Ted Turner, Jim Carrey and Poker super-stars Phil Hellmuth, Doyle Brunson and Annie Duke, who also starred on Donald Trump’s “Celebrity Apprentice” TV show.
Jon majored in Fine Arts at The Ohio State University and Advertising Design at The Columbus College of Art & Design. He taught art and design classes at The University of Akron, where he also served on the Board of Advisers for the College of Fine Arts.
Jon built a reputation as one of the most award-winning Art Directors and Designers in the country, including a Gold Award in the prestigious Broadcast Design Art Directors’ International Design Competition. His clients included IBM, General Electric, Husqvarna and Siemens.
He has also designed several original typefaces and is a published cartoonist. An accomplished musician, Jon played with such noted performers as Simon and Garfunkel, Jonathan Edwards, The Main Ingredient and Jimi Hendrix, before pursuing a career in art.
In 2003, Jon was honored by the US Olympic Committee and named an Official Sculptor of both The US Olympic Team and The US Olympic Committee. Jon is the only artist in the history of the US Olympic Committee to be awarded these honorary titles.
He is a member of the National Sculpture Society, The Portrait Society of America and Allied Artists of America. Jon Hair currently resides and works in his state-of-the-art 7,500 square foot studio in Cornelius, North Carolina.
