Irene Diane Vickers Fleming

My husband and I retired on our wedding anniversary in May, 2009 and are loving it! We share the love of classic cars and spend much time with that hobby. We enjoy spending time with children and grandchildren whenever possible. My son, Bob (wife Kim) have four daughters, Kaitlyn (age 12), Kelsey (age 8) and Kyleigh (age 4) and Kamryn (will be 1 yr in March 2021). I enjoy cooking, flower gardening and just spending quiet time with my husband and our pug (Beau). My parents and my only brother are deceased. My son was diagnosed with testicular cancer in August, 2012. After surgery and many tests, it has been determined that he had two types of cancer and radiation was not an option. He had a PET Scan October 30, 2012 and he is "cancer-free(at least for now). He will be tested and observed for the next five years, as there is a 20% chance of recurrence. This experience has reminded our family that life is precious and we should be thankful for each day! All considered, my life has been good and I am very fortunate to have a wonderful husband and loving family to share my "golden years".

My favorite memories of high school are centered around Susan Marsch (our typing teacher) and Clifford Glazier (bookkeeping teacher), who always called me "gabby" instead of Diane!! Mr. Glazier would have been very happy to know that his efforts were not wasted, since I made a life's career from his dedication to being a good teacher! Other than the actual fun of most school days...my best memories are of the dances at The Betsey Mills Club. I still like listening to those old songs and remembering the "magic" of those evenings. We were so lucky to live in such a care-free time as the 50's.
