Joined the Army and was in basic training two weeks after graduating from MHS. Was stationed at Ft Bliss, TX for two years and then stationed in Germany from 1982 until 1985. Married Diana Sholes in December of 1981 and we are still married. Left the Army in early 1985 and returned to Marshalltown and attended MCC for a year. Transferred to The University of Iowa in summer of 1986. Graduated from The University of Iowa in 1989 with a major in Anthropology. Moved to Lawrence, KS to attend Graduate School at The University of Kansas. Remain in Lawrence, KS with my family.
Went into Property Management and was a Property Manager for numerous apartment communities in Lawrence, Overland Park and Topeka, KS. Began working for the State of Kansas in 2010.
Going to auto mechanics class with Mr Hanks. A friend and I would tell him we had to go to an auto parts store for parts and would be gone for two hours. Never was caught. Couldn't believe I received school credit for just driving around Marshalltown.
I was involved in the school walkout and was suspended for three days. What a joke. After not being able to gain entrance to the school, a large number of students met out at Lyons Park and began drinking beer that day. I couldn't party too much because I had to be at work at Hy-Vee later that afternoon.
Nason's Latest Interactions
Sorry to hear that Rick has passed. I was one of his classmates of 1980 and we worked together at Hy Vee. We had some good times together. May he rest in peace. My thoughts and prayers are with his family.
In the fall semester of our sophomore year, Dave and I would walk to the Thunderbird restaurant at 2:30 when we were dismissed for the day. Dave and I would wait for his mom to get off work at 3:00 and then she would drive me home. Dave and I spent a lot of time together that semester.
Dave was with me and my brother when we wrecked our first car. No one was hurt, but Dave was upset at the other driver that hit us, and then took off. It was a hit and run accident.
Rest in Peace Dave.
