In Memory

Mark McCarter

Deceased Classmate: Mark James McCarter Age at death: 16 Classmate residence: Mentor, OH Survived by: His parents and older brother Sean to whom he looked up to. There are people who touch our lives and Mark James McCarter was one of them. He passed away at a young age on September 8, 1986 during his junior year of high school. Mark was cheerful & outgoing with many friends and a loving family. I did not meet Mark until high school. He went to Shore Junior High School. As a teenager, Mark had many interests including hanging out with his friends, working out, camping with his family, playing with his dog Gunner, listening to music & cds, classic cars (he had a black Firebird & red Cutlass), horticulture, and playing football for Mentor High. He played offense on the team, but I recall him complaining because he wanted to play defense. I remember Mark as a carefree teenager who always had a smile on his face. At the time of his death he was truly missed by many classmates, loyal friends and family. May he rest in peace. Renate

Mark's untimely death left a life-long lasting impression. I had the pleasure of getting to know Mark throughout our time at Mentor High and he was always an uplifting and encouraging friend-not to mention he had a very nice girlfriend in Renate. The world was definitely a worse place after Mark was gone...We still miss him.

Mark was my best friend from about 9th grade till his death. I have a lot of very good memories of the times we had together. He was as close to a brother to me as any friend could be. He was the life of every party and made quite a lot of friends along the way in his short life. I still stop by Mentor Cemetery now and then to visit him and it still shocks me to look at the year of death- 1986. I often wonder what he would have done with his life if he was here now. He would have made a great politician or something along those lines because of his great gift of gab. I will miss you forever old friend.

Mark truly impacted everyone's life who knew him. He was one of those people that everyone LOVED. I'll never forget him or the memories we shared. He was a great friend and a great person. He was always there for all his friends. His smile brightened up any room and his laugh was infectious. I still visit his grave and miss him very much. He was an important part of all our lives.
