What a great site this is. After being out of the loop for the past 20 years it is kind of fun to go back and read these profiles. It is shocking how many people still look pretty much the same as they did in high school or even junior high and grade school for that matter(a little less hair and a few more pounds here and there). I'm a little surprised how many names I remembered.
Anyway, as far as my story. . . a couple of years after high school I married my high school sweetheart (Deserae)and since it was time to become responsible and I was a little too impatient to spend the next 4 years at college, I decided to take advantage of my only skill that would make any money (computers). We spent our honeymoon moving to the south (Charlotte, N.C.) where I eventually ended up working with IBM.
After a couple of years and a couple of children we decided that Charlotte was a little boring and not where we wanted to raise a family. We wanted a little larger city that would have more activities and culture to offer. So we headed to Atlanta where we spent the next 11 years and pumped out a couple more kids.
During this time I was working as a consultant and ended up traveling more and more as the years went on. In 2005, after having visited 40 different cities in only 20 weeks, I realized that I was spending way too much time on the road and I wanted to slow down and spend some more time with my children before they ended up going off to college. I gave up my consulting career and took a position with Nike, who had been a long time client of mine, in Memphis, Tenn. It didn't take long for the family to realize that they did not like Memphis very much (not at all really) and Deserae had always wanted to get back to the west to be a little closer to her family, so after a short year with Nike I told them sorry and went to work for another one of my long time customers, Columbia Sportswear, in Portland Oregon in 2006.
We found our dream home just north of Portland in Vancouver Washington where we are now settled down nicely and enjoying all of the great outdoor activities with the kids (skiing, hiking, fishing, camping, rowing, etc. etc.). Here, I hope to spend the next 10-12 years until we get the kids through college before making any more major moves. Deserae is close enough to Salt Lake to visit, but far enough away that the family can't just pop in when ever they please.
