Ginger Grimes Willson

I received my Masters in Education with an emphasis in Instructional Technology from UGA sort of late in life! My husband Ron and I live in Cumming, GA. Previously I lived in Stateboro for about 24 years. I worked as a middle school educator in 3 school systems - Bulloch, Baldwin, and Forsyth Co) Teaching and training teachers in the Forsyth County School System was a wonderful but very busy job. I really enjoyed collaborating with them in using technology in their classrooms. I retired in 2012.

My big hobby is landscaping, and I love the sunshine! Needless to say, I am in the pits during the late fall and winter month, except when I’m watching College Football! Still love the Bulldogs! I was on the first Womens basketball team at Georgia in 1969. We had our 50th year celebration in February of 2019! UGA was kind enough to honor us with a delicious dinner and a presentation at the UGA Womens Basketball game.

It seems like when I hit 60 in 2009, I began to have health issues or lose a body part a month! I am a cancer survivor and have been cancer free since Nov 2009! After having NO health issues all these years and being active in sports, this was really hard to take.

As a junior in high school, having called attention to Coach Whaley and others to a fight outside of school while standing in the stairwell of lockers, made a hushed and what I thought was a private comment to friend Jackie Birchall... "man! look at Whaley! He doesn't even have to stand on steps to see out this window!" I was written up by Coach and called in shortly thereafter by Dr. Siblilsky for a discussion on why I was receiving my first ever 11 demerits!
