Coral Peterson

After high school I did some modeling for a couple years and got to travel to Europe and Japan, nothing fancy, but I was in some magazines and the Chicago Trib a couple of times.

I actually missed school (what was I thinking?) and my family and friends, so I gave it up to do some full time learning. I went to JJC, studied abroad in England, and then went to U of I in Champaign/Urbana.

For a while, I was an online columnist on Japanese lifestyle and culture for Tokyopop.com, a website for a publisher of manga.

I moved back to Morris and now work at the JJC library. I'm just finishing up a 2 year program to get some special library training. I'm interning at Fountaindale Library for the summer. I really hope to work with teens in Youth Services sometime soon.

I have a blog online, but I have been bad about updating, so if you want to find it, use your google-fu. I'm better at keeping up with Twitter, so let me know if you are on too. I barely log into anything else online except maybe google.

I had a really nice time at the reunion and liked seeing everyone again. Thanks to all the effort everyone put in!

Favorite Subject: Probably English or Creative Writing

Least Favorite: Math, at least in Gym we had fun days

Favorite Teacher: Mr. Rice, hands down

Favorite Club/Activity: Art Club, all the creativity, none of the discipline: Face painting, window painting, craft fairs, etc.

Best thing about HS: Finding people you have more in common with than living in the same neighborhood.

Worst thing about HS: grumpy teachers! More than one made me cry and one outright made fun of me in front of other students.

What I wish I knew then: That the real world isn't much like they say it will be and the most useful classes were Driver's Ed. & Consumer Ed.

What I took for granted: Having built in shared experiences and functions to go to and talk about. It's hard to get together now.

Dumbest thing I did: Forged some teachers' initials on a pass because I couldn't find them on campus. I was totally busted and right afterward someone told me the same thing happened to them so they just got the principal to sign off on it. Why didn't I think of that??

Favorite Memories: When Luke M. told the art teacher he came to class to do art and he wasn't going down to the office over whatever little thing she was pissed about. He might have also mentioned us losing any respect we had for her as a teacher.
