School Story:
I went to Belmont Abbey College on a basketball, volleyball and academic scholarship for two years and then transferred to UNC-Greensboro. I continued my athletics and graduated in 1993 with a degree in Psychology. I later moved to Asheville in 1994 and worked on a childrens psychiatric unit and furthered my career at the local mental health center. It is there I began doing in-home family therapy. In 1999, I began graduate school for a Master's in Social Work at UNC-Chapel Hill. I then worked with substance abusers who were on probation for a variety of offenses and continued my work with children and families. I graduated in 2002 and began private practice work, where I still am today, working with individuals whom have various mental health concerns.
Personally, I love spending time close friends. Every two weeks I head to Burlington, NC to see my beloved grandmother. I enjoy working out, movies, reading, redecorating and home improvement, outdoor activities, dinners and good red wine.
Since high school, I have changed a lot. I have developed a secure sense of self, make it a point to laugh a lot, even at myself. I still live by my beliefs, however, I have lost the judgmentalness and rigidity I was bound by in the past. I have a newfound awareness and individuality that I wear well - thanks to God and numerous friends who dont have a problem putting me in my place :-).
