So, what have you been doing since 1984?
Went to college at UW Madison in Dairy Science, didn't finish but moved to Chicago in 1988 to pursue an acting career. Sang and acted (and waited tables/bartended) for 3 years.
Started in Residential Real Estate sales in Deerfield, IL in 1989.
Moved back to Madison in 1993 and continued in real estate sales. Started a construction company in 1994, closed it in 2008.
Started Keller Williams Realty in Madison in 2003. Currently serve as Operating Principal/Broker for the 2 offices I own in Madison.
Spend my days training agents, coaching and consulting. Also coach for a company out of Toronto called Frame of Mind Coaching and love that as well.
Met my partner, Devery in 1999 and we've been together since. He moved to Madison in 2000 from Mobile, Alabama and got in to the real estate biz with me in 2003. It's a sickness but we've enjoyed it.
When not working we love to travel. Have been to many countries in Europe (France, UK, Spain, Portugal, Greece, Turkey, Czech Republic, Austria, Slovakia, Hungary, Germany) and Mexico and Central America. I'm currently in love with Costa Rica and hope to spend more time there in the years to come.
Still sing with a men's chorus in Madison. But for the most part work is what we do.
This past year I lived the life of George Clooney in "Up in the Air" logging 42 weeks of travel in my newest role as a corporate trainer for Keller Williams on a national level. I now go to the same city , every week, for 8 weeks and train real estate agent in a full day "boot camp" style training. I love the work and have gotten used to the travel. The time flies by far to quickly when I'm on the road 3-4 days each week. In 2010 I traveled to Boston, the Twin Cities, Denver and finished the year in Phoenix and Las Vegas each week. This year I'm off to Portland Maine and Nashua, New Hampshire for the 1st quarter.
Since our last reunion I've had a chance to travel more global to speak and teach. Last year I made 2 trips to Dubai to work with their government to train real estate brokers there. I had students in my courses from the entire region including Egypt, Morocco, Ghana and even Syria. Dubai is an amazing place. Kind of Las Vegas meets New York City as the buildings are all over the top and spectacular and the shopping is unbelievable. It's very much a muslim country as well and I've enjoyed learning much more about this faith and it's people. On deck for 2014 will be at least 1 more trip to Dubai and I'm adding teaching in Tokyo Japan to the training schedule as well.
Along with that I still love to travel for downtime as well. Last year we spent time in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico and rented a villa for 10 days in the Umbria region of Italy. From there we spent time sightseeing in Rome, Assisi, Perugia and Florence as well as many of the tiny and incredibly charming little towns in the Perugia region. It was an awesome trip.
