Sky Robinson

Schuyler Allan “Sky” Robinson, 58 of Tulsa, Oklahoma passed peacefully from this life on Tuesday, October 2, 2018 in a room filled to capacity with loving family members. Sky was born March 14, 1960 in Tulsa, Oklahoma, a son of Marilyn Ruth Stubbs Robinson. His uncles; George “Sonny” Stubbs, Jr., John Stubbs, and grandfather; George Walter Stubbs, provided a hand in raising him.

Sky was a man of many talents. He was a 7th degree Kung Fu Grandmaster, who also held black belts in Goju and other styles. He trained multiple students and graduated several black belts over the years. He was passionate about the principles and techniques of Kung Fu, Jeet Kune Do, and even created his own martial arts style called A.M.A.S.D. He taught classes at the YMCA and Martin Luther King Center in Muskogee, Oklahoma; as well as instructing at numerous other schools and dojos in the Tulsa area, and giving private lessons out of his own home.

He was also a master auto mechanic who enjoyed rebuilding cars with his children. Sky was an avid shooter and shooting instructor who taught Concealed Carry classes, offered private shooting lessons, and even trained world champion competitive shooters. In 1991, he graduated with honors from Spartan School of Aeronautics, receiving an Associate’s Degree in applied sciences and Airframe and Powerplant Technician license. He was a writer and an artist who also loved fishing and hunting. Sky had a huge, open heart and made strangers feel welcome in his home at many a holiday celebration. He had a warm, robust and distinct laugh which was a treat for anyone within earshot of him, and made everyone else laugh with him.

He is survived by his loving wife, Joanne Marie Robinson; two sons, Schuyler Robinson II of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma and Stephen Robinson of Tulsa, Oklahoma; two daughters, Danielle Kemp and husband Daniel of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Rachael Kirby and husband Breck of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; his mother, Marilyn Robinson of Tulsa, Oklahoma; brothers, Billy Robinson and wife Desai, Jimmy Robinson, Donny Robinson, and David Robinson and wife Vicki; two sisters Nancy Roberts and husband Shawn, and Lauri Hammer and husband Tom; uncle John Stubbs; and many grandchildren, nieces, nephews and dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Larry Robinson, his uncle; Sonny Stubbs; his cousin, Daniel Stubbs, and grandparents; George Walter Stubbs and Alma Stubbs.

Sky did not want a “funeral”, but a celebration of his life. The family will hold a memorial service at Keystone State Park Community Center on Thursday, October 18th at 2pm. We invite and encourage you not to wear black.

A fund has been set up to help with his medical bills and funeral costs. Donations can be made at https://fundly.com/sky-robinson-medical-fund.
