NAPA - Lifetime Napa resident Christie Evans passed away peacefully at her home in Napa with her family by her side, after a brief illness, on Dec. 3, 2009. She was 63.
Christie was born June 22, 1946, at the Parks Victory Hospital in Napa, to Harlan and Eileen Hanson.
Christie grew up in Napa and attended Lincoln and D.T. Davis Elementary School, Redwood Junior High School and graduated from Napa High School in 1964.
She married her junior high school sweetheart, Dennis Evans, on May 22, 1966. They remained in Napa and decided to start a family.
Christie worked for Napa Music until she had children and then became full-time mom and wife. After her children started school, she went to work at Kelly Moore Paint Co. in Vallejo.
In 1989, she went to work for Napa Valley Paint Co. in Napa, where she remained until her retirement in 2005.
Christie loved all of her customers and had several favorites who she would talk about often.
Throughout her life, Christie was grateful to have had a very loving relationship with her parents. Christie and Dennis owned the home next door to her parents for the last 40 years and Christie enjoyed almost daily visits with her mother.
Christie was a very active mother and loved watching both of her daughters play softball. In the spring and summer months you could always find Christie sitting in the stands at Kiwanis Softball Field, watching her girls play softball and her husband coach.
Some of Christie’s favorite activities were traveling to the casino to play penny slots, taking day trips to the beach and spending summer vacations in Lake Tahoe with her husband.
Christie also loved gnomes and angels.
Christie was blessed with five grandchildren. She was a loving and devoted grandma to each of them.
She never missed a baseball game, softball game, basketball game, dance recital/competition, 4H auction, graduation, birthday party, Christmas performance, school play or anything that her grandkids participated in.
At any given time you could always find one of the five grandkids at her home.
They loved staying the night with her and she even had rooms in her home dedicated to the grandkids.
She loved them all and they loved her.
She wanted them close to her, even in her final moments of life.
Christie is survived by her husband, Dennis Evans; her two daughters Kim (Doug) Wilkinson; Tracy (Doug) Egbert; her mother Eileen Hanson; her grandchildren Michael, Mindy Hudson, Alexandra, Brady, Bryan Egbert; her mother-in-law Ellen Evans and Doug’s children Chance and Ty Wilkinson. She was preceded in death by her father, Harlan (Harley) Hanson.
Christie was a beacon of light for all of us and will be dearly missed.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 8, at Treadway& Wigger Funeral Chapel, 623 Coombs St., Napa, with Chaplain Lee Shaw of the Law Enforcement Chaplaincy of Napa County officiating.
Private committal will follow in Tulocay Cemetery.
The family asks that memorials be made to Kaiser Hospice, 975 Sereno Drive, Vallejo, CA 94589.

Christie was always such a wonderful person, and so happily married to Dennis. I worked with Dennis, and their two daughters at Safeway, and the whole family was so nice. My  heart goes out to Dennis and their family.
