Harry Greco VIEW PROFILE

According to Tim Llewellyn:

In 1967 I had heard that Harry had drowned while undergoing Navy Basic Underwater Demolition School (BUDS) at Coronado CA (Navy Amphibious Base).  I was undergoing Navy ROTC training at Coronado during the summer of 1967.  Harry was on the swimming team with me at high school.  Tonight I googled his name and found his mother's obituary (Rose Greco) in the Napa Register from 2006.  In the obit, it states that she never got over losing her only son Harry in 1967 in the Vietnam war.

I met Harry at the beginning of our Senior year.  We were both on the Cross Country team and we became friendly rivals.  Harry always wanted to beat me as I wanted to beat him.  Together we pushed each other to better our performnces and our selves.

We remained friends throughout High School.  We lost track of each other when we went into the military.

Rest in peace, old friend.

Harry was one of the St. John's Catholic School kids that I grew up with, 50 students in the classroom (can you imagine that today!) and I remember him as a respectful, nice boy who I think was a good dancer.  It saddens me so to think of the lost opportunities and possibilites of his life becasue of war.  I can only hope he found the joy and fun I discovered when going to public school.
