Robert Jiles VIEW PROFILE

Info. from Donald A. Kleid via Jawana Hummingbird:Kitchen:

From the Georgetown Town Crier: Bob Jiles Memorial fundraiser.  The Native Sons of the Golden West Parlor 91 will sponsor a spaghetti dinner memorial fundraiser for the final expenses of the late Bobby Jiles.  The event is planned for Saturday February 16 at the IOOF Hall in Georgetown.  A donation of $10 is reccomended, and those who are unable to attend the event can still donate to NSGW No. 91 P.O. Box 635, Georgetown, CA 95634.  Contributions should be labeled for "Bob Jiles Benefit".  Submitted by Don Kleide, Georgetown, CA.

I would run into Bob at the local market frequently in the last 10 years I have lived in Georgetown.  I reconnected with him when I ordered some rock for my driveway several years ago and there he was delivering it in his big dump truck.  He talked about his problems with the Government in trying to settle his Viet Nam Agent Orange claim.  For the last five years he has been battling with them to no avail, just getting sicker and sicker.  He said the last time we talked, "They are delaying this claim hoping I will die first."  He was correct.

Bob was a great guy, led a simple life up here in the woods, delivering rock and gravel, had many friends and was well liked.  Contributing for his "final expenses" is an honor for me since he basically gave his life serving his country during a very difficult time in our country's history.  Don K

Bob was a very sweet and kind gentle soul. Went to school with him at Ridgeview and he was always a gentleman. It was a pleasure knowing him and will always remember that sweet smile. May you rest in peace and bless your heart. Thank you also for serving our country and I feel bad our government treated you poorly at the end of your life.
