Nancy Claire Johns passed away peacefully September 1, 2008 following a courageous two and a half year battle with stage 3 non-smoker's lung cancer.  Nancy attended school in Napa, graduating from Napa High School in 1965.  After completing courses at Napa Valley College, she headed off to San Francisco to begin her career working in the insurance industry and later obtaining her broker's license.  Things just seemed to come easy to Nancy.  She was an avid reader and an accomplished writer with a natural talent for art, sketching and design.  She accomplished so much in her life with ease, grace and dignity.  She had a strong desire to return to school and enrolled in Sonoma State, receiving a master's degree in psychology.  Nancy used this knowledge during her 10 year volunteer service with suicide prevention.  She gave 100 percent in commitment and dedication to her service and was honored at San Francisco Suicide Prevention "Volunteer of the Year" in 2004.

Nancy will be missed by her family for her infectious laugh, sense of humor, funny and outrageous comments, wonderful sense of style, love of family and friends, compassion and love for animals, independent and proud nature, incredible courage and determination.  Her family loves and misses her dearly.
