Linda Leger (Bird) was born February 15, 1948 and died October 4, 1985. She was a well respected teacher at Napa High when she was killed in her home. There is a memorial scholarship in her name at Napa High for math students. Linda attended Mt. George Elementary School, Silverado Jr. High, as well as Napa High. I remember her as a very intelligent classmate through all of those schools. She is missed.

I was lucky enough to have Linda Leger as my friend in high school.   She was funny, cheerful and humble.  She was very intelligent but never treated you unkindly or acted superior because of her gift of intelligence.  She invited me over several times to her house to play the latest Beatle album.  We learned together the names of the Beatles and who we liked the best in the group.  It was a shock and so sad to learn of her tragic death.  I am glad there is a memorial fund in her honor.  I think about how important it is for the rest of our graduating class of 1965 to honor her memory by living life fully, responsibly and lovingly to all we encounter as best we can.  And to pick ourselves up and start over when we fail and never, never give up our dreams and hopes for the future.  I know Linda and the other classmates we have lost over the years will all be present in spirit at our reunion.  Long live their memories in each of our hearts and prayers for their loved ones.  Linda, you were a wonderful friend and I miss you.
