My family moved from Vallejo to Napa in March of 1962.  I was assigned to Mrs. Piccarillo's Spanish class at Silverado and had a desk next to Jim's.  I saw him again that afternoon on the 23 bus and we both got off at the Bell Lane stop.  We started talking as we were walking home and he asked me if I had a bike.  So we rode out to Hagen Road and down towrds Mt. George Farm Center.  We never had any classes together but we hung out most days after school and on weekends.  He joined the Navy about the same time that I joined the Army.  We saw each other agian, he was home from Great Lakes and I was on leave between Fort Benning and Fort Campbell.  That was the last time that I spoke to him.  He was a very skilled mechanic and electronics hobbiest.  My best memory is when he got a slot car set for Christmas of 64.  Every night we'd wait for his parent to go to a Christmas party and we would unwrap it and play with it.  When we were done it would get placed back into the box and carefully rewrapped and placed back under the tree.
