After graduating I started working at Letcher Manor Nursing Home as a CNA where I am still employed. I attend Southeast Community College where I am working on my Nursing Degree. I am currently taking this semester off and will return in the fall.
I became a Lady Pirate in the 7th grade when I started playing basketball for Dougie Kincer in 2001-2002. It was his last year as coach, and lord did he make us run! haha I had always dreamed of putting on that purple and gold uniform. My favorite memory of Mr. Kincer was when we played Cumberland at their gym and he got kicked out for cursing out the refs for mistreating us. He got suspened from coaching us for a few games. Little did they know though when we played our home games, our locker room had the outside door beside it so, he would sneak in during half time and tell us what we needed to do. He was a very great man and im glad to say I had the opportunity to play for him. I continued playing my 8th grade year as well.
Freshman year was the best though, that is the one year I would go back to anyday and relive. We had an awesome basketball team. We won the East Ridge Tournament and ranked HIGHER than Whitesburg in the Lexington Herald!! It was so exciting to see our schools name in there because it had been so long since we had such a great season. Our freshman team was just as awesome. This would have to be by far my most favorite memory, our little 6 girl freshman team beat Whitesburgs 15 girl team. I had never been more proud in my life than to say that We beat Whitesburg! The man to thank that for would be the best coach I ever had, Bryan Gooch.
FNHS was my home, I miss it so much I cry thinking back of the memories I had there. We were like a family everyone knew everyone by name. No one was a stranger.
I attended FNHS my freshman year with hopes of being able to graduate a Pirate. LCC ruined that dream I had since a child though so I decided to move to Jenkins my sophomore year to sit my year out of basketball so I could play the next year. Ended up not being able to play though because my knees wouldn't allow it. I ended up graduating from Jenkins as a Cavalier but my heart was never there it was and forever will be a Pirate. Purple and Gold runs through my blood and always will.
