North Mahaska Jr/Sr High School
Class Of 1988
Welcome to the North Mahaska Jr/Sr High Class Of 1988 web site.
Hi everyone,
Sorry for such a long delay in providing the updated reunion plan. I drove over last week to search for a venue for dinner Saturday night and scoped out options in Grinnell, Pella, Lynnville and Osky. It looks like this is the plan:
Friday, September 26th - I reserved the Prairie Knolls Clubhouse. We can tailgate, eat, drink and socialize there before the game. There is a kitchen there. So we can bring food, snacks, coolers and such. We can either potluck it (as someone suggested) or order pizza or just bring snack type food. Either way, it is a place that is kid-friendly and it will provide a quiet, smoke-free opportunity to gather and talk a little before the game. I will be bringing my kids to this as well as going to the homecoming football game. We will probably watch the homecoming parade too. If anyone, local or from out of town wants to golf, they may at anytime during the day. In regards to time: I will check out game time and get back to you on that. But I will be there late afternoon up until game time. I am happy to try and set up a few "kid type" activities if there is interest on your part. Let me know.
Saturday, September 27th - There is a new Bed and Breakfast in Lynnville called the Linden House B&B. I spoke with them and they can accommodate us. It is very a very nice new house built down by the Old Mill. (One block from main intersection in town). It has a bar and a good size outdoor patio off the bar for a little extra room during cocktail time. I have spoken to more than a few local people who gave the place rave reviews. The cost is $ 17 per plate for the Prime Rib and $14 per plate for the Chicken. This includes salad, potato and a veggie. The chef usually does something a little special so it won't just be plain chicken. This is for adults only. Also, there is no fee to reserve it. In lieu of that, I do need a firm commitment from those who are planning to attend by Friday, September 12th. Everyone will be responsible for picking up their own check that evening. This way I don't have to collect from all of you. Linden House will not ask for prepayment so they are counting on us to attend if we commit. They will be turning others away that night so they can accommodate us. So I really want to be accurate in giving them the number of those attending. We will have a cocktail hour beginning at 6:30 pm, followed by our meal at 7 pm.
Sorry for the redundancy, but I need you to call or email me again with confirmation of attendance. Please tell me if you will attend Friday, Saturday or both. And if you are attending Saturday, Which you would prefer- Prime Rib or Chicken? I told Raenell I would give her a firm number in a few days so please confirm no later than Friday, the 12th. Thanks
My number is 319-430-1436 or mvick@mchsi.com.
Hopefully, that is it for now. Feel free to call me with any questions, suggestions, or complaints :-)
My Best,
-Melanie (Brannen) Vick
P.S. For those who were wondering, we ditched the Iowa Game idea on Saturday.
Also, there are a number of hotels in Grinnell all along the highway at the edge of town. It is 10 minutes from Lynnville if you need an overnight place to stay.
