Comments:

I served a mission for the LDS Church in Italy 1969-71. I got married to the love of my life, Deanne Hansen, from Parma. I graduated with an undergraduate degree in Law Enforcement from BYU in 1974. I worked for the Idaho Bureau of Narcotics in 1974 and the Nyssa Police Department in 1975. I went back to school and graduated from BYU Law School in 1979. I worked for Stunz, Fonda and Pratt in Nyssa for 2 years and then joined the Army JAG Corps and was assigned to Ft. Lewis, Washington and Yuma Proving Ground in Yuma, Arizona. I then went to work as Sector Counsel for the Border Patrol in Yuma, Arizona. Since 1995 I have been an Immigration Judge for the U. S. Department of Justice in Florence, Arizona. I hope to retire in about 3 years and then with Deanne do volunteer work as missionaries for the LDS Church.

School Story:

I enjoyed my high school experience. I had fun in band, football, basketball and track. I liked most of my teachers and all of my classmates. I think that I was well prepared for college. Growing up in Nyssa was good.

I remember driving with Mr. Calhoun one day. We went to Ontario and got on the freeway headed north. Calhoun fell asleep and didn't wake up until we were almost to Baker. He woke up and then got mad at me for not turning around. I told him that I was just waiting for him to tell me where to go next. We got back to the school really late that day. I also remember Calhoun coaching football and breaking the amonia capsules and sticking them up his nose.

I took AP English from Swisher for the first semester of my senior year. I transferred to a regular English class the 2nd semester from Miss Lindbloom. Mr. Swisher confronted me and told me that I couldn't transfer, that the AP class was for the whole year and that no student had ever transferred out of his class before. I took it to Mr. Chester and he let me transfer because there was nothing in the course description that said you had to take the class for the full year. Mr. Swisher always glared at me and never spoke to me after that. The next year he put it in the course description that you had to take the class for a full year.
