In 1988 I received my BS in Elementary Education from UNL. I began teaching at St. Mary's Elementary School in O'Neill in the fall of 1989 and I remained there for 17 years. In August of 1989, I married Tim Schneider and we have made our home in O'Neill. After 17 years of teaching 3rd grade, I moved to St. Mary's High School and began teaching 7th and 8th grade pre-algebra and English. The following year, I accepted the media specialist position and I'm currently working on my masters in technology through UNK.
Also, I guess I should've mentioned that I'm a breast cancer survivor. I was diagnosed in May of 2005, had a bilateral (both sides) mastectomy, and plodded my way through 4 rounds of chemotherapy during the summer. I actually was very fortunate that I only missed the last couple weeks of school in May and was able to return on the first day in August. My check-ups have been great since then, so I think I kicked its ass.....

Okay, probably one of the funniest things I can remember is sitting in Miss B.'s Humanities class and all of a sudden seeing through the upper windows, Gary Schaaf's head bobbing along. I think he was on Tee-Ti's shoulders. I'm guessing that was only one of their escapades during 'Potpourri' class with Mrs. McCarville.
It's funny--we house all the old yearbooks in the office of the library, and the kids really like to look through them. They were trying to find pictures of Paula and me in the 84 Marian and came across a picture of the "Fun Bunch" and wanted to know all about what that was. There are so many little things like that that I know I've forgotten. I'll be interested to read other people's school stories.
