After graduating from High School, I obtained my Bachelor’s in Social Work from Kearney State College. …have many great memories of my time there. After graduation, I moved out to Southern California and have resided here for the last 21 years, 18 of which have been Huntington Beach. I worked in the Welfare-To-Work Program for 4 years and then quit to attend UCLA to get my Master’s in Social Work (MSW). After getting my MSW, I worked for the County of Orange, Child Protective Services for 4 years. My clients were special medical needs children, both dependants and non-dependants of the state, and drug and alcohol addicted parents. I loved my work! However, I quit after the birth of my daughter/2nd child to stay at home & raise children. I never pictured myself doing this full time, but I love(ed) it & have so much more respect now for others that do the same.
I met my husband in 1991. In 1995 we got married. He attended law school at the same time as I attended graduate school. Upon graduating, he stayed at home with our oldest for 9 months, before becoming the General Counsel (in-house attorney) for a large real estate company, ReMax of Ca. & Hawaii. He worked for them for 3 ½ years & then started his own real estate law practice. At that point, I began keeping the books for him. He has had a lucrative niche in the Real Estate Industry, which we have enjoyed for many years, until the real estate bust! Since January, however, our income has been cut in ½, thus my reason for not being able to travel back for the reunion. We are busy trying to re-invent ourselves/himself. Kevin’s current plan of action is to begin doing bankruptcies for companies. He and a partner have also started a new business servicing bank owned/foreclosed homes, maintaining the lawns & pools and doing construction rehab. I now do the books for both companies & continue to help run the businesses.
We have 3 wonderful children. We have enjoyed 3-4 cross-county trips over the last several years, enjoy boating at the Colorado River & Lake Mead during the summer and in the winter time enjoy riding our motorcycles & quads in the desert and at sand dunes.
