I was just floored to see that Anne had passed away! She was an amazing girl. We were in orchestra together all throughout high school. She played viola and I played violin so we were able to make eye contact during boring songs, long lectures and funny moments. I just cannot believe she is gone. She was always positive, upbeat, happy, driven, talented and friendly...truly a loss for those of us who knew her and for those who never had the chance to know her!

Anne was that truly rare person whom seemed to always be ready and able to be kind to and genuinely interested in everybody. Everyone I know that knew Anne thought the world of Anne. How could you forget that warm smile? And talk about multi-talented: academics, athletics and music. I hadn't seen her since Junior year (though it turns out we both lived out here in San Francisco at the same time) and really never expected to run into her again and yet I've felt a huge loss.

Does anyone know what happened to Anne? I know some of our other classmates had been involved in fatal car accidents, do we know what took Anne's life so abruptly?

I had been wondering too...so I finally emailed her husband(from the memorial website) and just asked...he emailed me the kindest, sweetest note...
The short story is she was diagnosed with andrenal cancer in November 2003(after being misdiagnosed earlier that spring) They discovered a large tumor and had it removed over that Christmas, but the cancer had already spread to her lungs and liver...Forward to 2 years of additonal surgery, chemo, flights around the country for different trials and treatments...but Anne was still very active and lived life to the fullest...During those 2 years, her and Marc bought a house, went hiking every weekend, took some great trips and rode in two Bike the Drive events in Chicago...
Then in July 2005 she past away in their house in SF...
They did have services in SF and Orland Park (her parents are still in Orland) She was cremated and buried at Good Shepard Cemetery in Orland...
I told Marc when I come out I will go and place some flowers there from her "class of '88" I didn't know Anne super well, but she was in a couple of my classes and I remember her as being such a geuninely sweet, nice person and a kick ass soccer player...I was so sad when I heard about her passing...

Thank you Gina for sharing your note. Anne was a great girl and I am so saddened to hear of her trials. I am glad you had to courage to email her husband directly, I wasn't sure if I should.

I haven't been home in so long that I am not sure if I would remember where that cemetery is, but I'd love to go in on the flowers with you if you intend to go. Email me and let me know.

I just found out the news about Anne. She definitely was extremely kind, intelligent, and humorous. This is a big loss and shock to all of us. R.I.P. our old friend.
