I met "Kay" in Choir at Paly and we became friends. I rembember her trying to help me play Bridge--but I wasn't cut out for it. She was patient, fun, and tall! We decided to room together at University of the Pacific after High School graduation and had fun decorating our room. I dropped out of school to get married and only saw Kay again a couple of times in the next few years.
I was unaware she had died until reading on this site. I leave my condolences for her family and honor the sweet person she was.
I believe Karen died suddenly of a heart attack or something like that. I remember someone coming to my door and telling me about it, but i was so shocked, and didn't even know who it was. We lived hear their family home.
She and I went to elementary school together, and I knew her brothers. In fact I took French class with one of her brothers. Her parents lived in a lovely old Palo Alto home, and I remember the big deep lawn and cottage in the back. I even think we were in girl scouts together, but boy, I can't remember much about that.
Karen was my dearest friend from the day we met at Jordan until her death at age 48 from a heart attack. I still miss her every day. I plan to attend her daughter's wedding in Arizona in April. I will be able to enjoy time with her brother, her ex husband and their families. I feel honored that her children still consider me a favorite auntie.
