Thanks to Larry Pool for informing us of Richard's death. The following is from his obituary in the Borger News Herald on February 4, 2016:
Richard Leon Powell, 72 of Fritch died February 3rd at Home. No services are set at this time. Arrangements are by Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger.
Richard was born January 1, 1944 in Pampa, TX to Claude Cleveland Powell and Iva Florene Stewart. He served in the US Army. He was a mechanic for Phillips Petroleum. He married Jeanie Thomas June 28, 1981 in Seminole, TX. He loved to fish and his grandkids.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, son Mark and a brother Larry.
Richard is survived by his wife Jeanie. Sons Mike and wife Becky of Lewisville, TX; John of Amarillo and Voyne of Fritch. Daughter Leanne and husband Jerry Don Lester of Hazlet, TX. Brothers Kenny of Seminole, TX and Ocia of Dallas, TX. Sisters Dixie Houston of Seminole, TX and Iva Richardson of Erick, OK. Eleven grandchildren.
