Joe Barnett of White Deer died November 14, 1987 of an explosion at Pampa's Hoechst Celanse Chemical Co. plant. He was born May 16, 1944 in Amarillo and raised in Pampa. He was a United States Navy veteran of the Vietnam War.

Joe was married to Patsy Ruth Sandefur on Feb. 9, 1968 in Pampa. He was a member of the Pampa Masonic Lodge and was employed at Hoechst Celanese Chemical Company.

Survivors include his wife, Patti, of the home; one son, Toby, of the home; two daughters, Missy and Courtney, both of the home; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Cecil J. Barnett of Pampa; two brothers, Eddie and Jerry, both of Pampa; and his grandmother, Nora Ford of Canadian
