Anita Buske French passed from earthly bonds to Heaven on March 22, 2000, after 18 long years of fighting the disease of cancer. With this, she suffered pain and lack of control over her disease. She was surrounded by her wonderful daughter, and family who loved her very much. Many good friends grieve her passing, but none would argue her need for peace profound. They say suffering is good for the soul -- if this is true, her soul has endured enough. She now is pain free and sharing the glorious rewards of Heaven.

I knew Anita when she and her family moved next door to us in Pampa, Texas when we were both in the fourth grade. We became instant friends -- soul mates -- school mates, school bus mates, and confidants -- we held hands, walked to the movies, went to Girl Scout camps, had slumber parties, went to the County Fair, fought over the same boy friend (and girl friends) and grew up each with different lives.

But with each re-contact we were able to instantly return to childhood memories of Pampa, Texas.

We traveled back to Pampa for the 35th year High School reunion -- we both knew she wanted to see her past again and to see people who were part of her life -- we did that.

Each person has their own faith, beliefs or concepts of life and death -- I truly believe that her soul lives on with such supreme rewards that it makes any earthly suffering so unimportant that it is already forgotten.

Goodbye, sweet Anita.
