Alex Portillo

Alexander Alex Portillo, 42, of Pecos, Texas, passed away on Tuesday, July 1, 2014 in Odessa, Texas.

Visitation will be on Saturday, July 5, 2014 beginning at 9 a.m. at Pecos Funeral Home with a Rosary at 7:30 on Sunday, July 6, 2014 at Pecos Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10 am on Monday, July 7, 2014 at St. Catherines Catholic Church with Father Fabian Marquez officiating. Christian burial will follow at Mt. Evergreen Cemetery. Arrangements are by Pecos Funeral Home.

Alex was born in Pecos, TX to Rosie and Tony Portillo on July 17, 1971. He graduated from Pecos High School in 1992. He was married to Yvette Garcia. He lived in Odessa, TX and worked as a machinist for many years. Alex was a member of the Catholic Church.

Alex was preceded in death by his mother, Rosie Portillo.

Alex is survived by his father, Antonio V. Portillo two brothers, Anthony Portillo and his wife, Bernice and Arthur Portillo and his wife Sally and one sister, Laura Portillo Cordova and her husband Martin Cordova. Alex is also survived by a stepdaughter, Hope Garcia and four nieces and two nephews that loved Alex very much.

Alex was fondly known by family and his friends as Tweety and Uncle Cool by his nephews and nieces. Alex is being remembered by his classmates on social media for his outgoing personality, his warm and happy demeanor and him running around the high school football field with the school flag every time the Pecos Eagle football team scored. Alex was the life of the party and always made a friend of anyone he encountered.

The family of Alex Portillo wish to express a most sincere and humble thank you to everyone that has expressed their condolences in person and on social media. We are overwhelmed by how much Alex was loved by all.
