In Memory

Fred DiDio

I am so saddened to have to announce this news that our beloved, Fred DiDio from the class of 1967, has passed away.
There is not yet an obituary online for me to post, but Fred's sister posted this yesterday....
I am saddened to share with the
PHS class of 1967,that my brother ,Fred DiDio,passed away at Mayo Clinic In Phoenix, AZ on 9/23 after a 2 year bout of various health issues that challenged him until he passed. He was 73 years young.
Fred was always in touch with his PHS Class of 67 friends and attended several PHS Reunions over the years. He loved life in Tucson for the last 20 years with his wife Diane ,of 42 years.
He had a very successful life and 32 year career with IBM ,allowing him to retire early.
He enjoyed his life traveling , poolside , perfecting his tan and being his “social self”as many knew him for ! His wit, charm, and relentless sarcasm, if you knew him back in the day, never changed! He did receive Best Dressed in 1967 and his look for fashion was style never faltered in the years! Neither did his love for the Yankees and Jets ! His time at PHS on the tennis team awarded him a scholarship to Southern Illinois in Carbondale .
He had a heart for his home town and all the spots he frequented were never forgotten. We are deeply saddened and grieving as this will take much time to process.
Fred always wanted to write a book on his life in Peekskill and
for those who influenced him as it shaped him into the person he became . He NEVER forgot his roots.
Formal obituary to follow.💔

It has been suggested that since Fred always wanted to write a book, if we can gather enough personal stories of things relating to Fred and his earlier life in Peekskill that maybe we can compile enough to have a book published in Fred's honor with proceeds going to PHS.

If anyone would like to write a short story or essay relating to this, please email to me at onidor@yahoo.com and perhaps we can make this happen.

You will be truly missed Fred. Rest in Peace our friend.
