September 2023 - I have been asked by someone wanting to come to the reunion if anyone else coming alone might want to share a hotel room.  If anyone is interested, please let me know at onidor@yahoo.com, or call me at 919-762-5365 and I will put your name here with your contact information for anyone interested or put  you in touch with the person who inquired. Thanks, Betsy

Finally, we have signed contracts and we are ready to get this reunion in the works.  We need your help in getting our deposits in so please read below for all information.

We have a maximum of 200 people. With interest being high and multiple requests coming in from other classes, we need your deposits to assure your being able to be part of this event. Priority will be to PHS classes of 1967, 1968, 1969 and 1970 and to those Ladycliff girls who have already attended one of our previous reunions. At this time, I cannot accept new people unless they are in the 4 original PHS classes as mentioned above. I wish we had a bigger space but we actually were lucky to get this venue. Some venues wanted $280 a person and one venue told me to rent their space would start at $49,000.

Now here is the best part. You can wear jeans or whatever you want because we are all about comfort. Even though our event room is indoors, just pretend you are in a big barn enjoying a night with friends. This theme was inspired by me being a little girl in bed on a Saturday night hearing the PHS kids on a hayride as they passed my house. It has always stayed with me and since our reunions are always about deep roots, we are coming full circle. I wanted to call it a hoedown but Ron asked me, “Where are you getting the hoes from?” 🤣🤣

This is the 25th anniversary of the first reunion Kathi and I did together. We never had to raise our prices before, but since the pandemic the cost of everything has skyrocketed. I apologize that we have to do so, but I still think it is reasonable. I hope you all agree. Because of the high interest, I must now ask you to send in your non-refundable $25.00 per person deposits. If you plan on bringing your spouse or someone else (because of the limitation of guests only 1 guest will be accepted at this time) you must send in $50 to hold both seats. This is going to be a first come first served basis. If we do not reach our goal by February of 2024, we will open it up to other classes and Ladycliff ladies.

Checks should be made payable to Betsy Rodino and mailed to me at 748 Lake Artesia Lane, Fuquay Varina, NC 27526

I will start searching the hotel sites and will post by December as fall weddings, football games and fall foliage watching fill hotels quickly. I strongly advise that if you need a hotel you plan early.  Another option would be AirBNB or VRBO.

And last of all, at this time we do not know if we can put our deejay on the street the night before the reunion. If it is possible we will but we understand the permit fee to do so is about $900. It seems that there are several new restaurants near the train station so I will research and post. It might be a great idea for each class to explore reservations for large groups and after eating come out onto the sidewalks looking for others.

Please share with others and direct them to this site. I will post on Facebook but will not put my full name, address or phone number out there. Thanks for your help.

I am very grateful Kathi agreed to help with this reunion one more time. Let’s make it the best one ever!

Betsy and Kathi

Attention all who attend the PHS Multi-Class Reunions from 1967, 1968, 1969 and 1970 plus Ladycliff friends who have attended previously, the date of the reunion is Sunday, October 6, 2024 at Cortlandt Colonial Restaurant by the rockcut in Peekskill. Watch for an announcement with all of the particulars on the www.classcreator.com/Peekskill-NY-1969 website by July 10th. Let’s make this our best one ever! Our theme will be an “Old Fashion Autumn Barn Dance” and you can dress casually. Wear jeans, boots and plaid shirts if you like. At our age, we are all about comfort. The announcement will be asking for non-refundable deposits per person to reserve your seat. We expect to sell out so please be prompt in getting those deposits in. We need them in order to make our deposits to our vendors. Please share this to your friends who are members of the 4 PHS classes. And please have them sign onto our website for current information and updates. Thanks everyone. Can’t wait to see you all.  Betsy and Kathi

Monday- June 12, 2023 Announcement

I am sending out this announcement to see what the interest is in doing one more multi-class reunion. I am trying to find a venue either in Peekskill or very close by. I have filled out forms for multiple venues to find out about costs.  Before I go any further, I need to know what the interest is. If you are seeing this and are interested, please respond. Also, please share to others who might not be on my FB page. I am tagging you if you are on my friends list. The sooner I know the interest, then I will be able to act once I get calls back. I don’t think there is enough time to pull this off for this coming October so I am thinking October 2024.

Thanks, Betsy and Kathi

Sad News

I received word today of the passing of Peekskill High School's beloved music teacher, Vincent Corozine, passing away. His son, Michael, posted this and it was sent to me to post here...We lost my amazing Dad today 88 years old. So grateful to be by his side today and connect with him this last week along with my family. Vince Corozine was an amazing artist, band leader, composer, sax player, musical arranger, musician, educator, dad, husband and so much to so many. Learned so much from my dad—sense of humor, spirit, interest and attention on others, the way he encouraged everyone he met and saw the good in everyone, also my love for show biz and theatre is from my dad —growing up obsessed with His Broadway cast albums and reading them cover to cover. He just published a book this year of his stories and memoirs Encounters with Life: Too Many Ah-ha Moments and Still Counting (available on Amazon).

I will post the obituary when it becomes available.

I am sure many of our alumni have fond memories of this super nice man who graced us all with his presence and musical abilities.

Rest  in Peace, Mr. Corozine.

Today, March 16, 2023, Alice MacLennan sent me these pics of Dave Nissen, Lenny Catalino, Jim DiMilia and Don MacLennan after a game of golf in sunny Florida. They all look wonderful.

I believe, the class of '69 represents and are saying to all of us, "Cheers to you."

Tuesday April 13, 2021

For all of you who are friends with Creighton, today his mother passed away.  While it is wonderful for him to have had her still at our age, it is never easy to lose a parent.  I hope you will reach out to him via Facebook, email, phone calls or texts or send him a card of sympathy.  Creighton was one of my very first friends once I started kindergarten and he is a very special person as anyone who knows him can attest to.  Thank you all. 💕🙏🏻💕

Tuesday - October 17, 2020

This is not the kind of announcement I usually put out here, but this morning I was tagged in a post of Facebook so I am thinking this should be put on this page to reach as many people, especially 69'ers as possible.  This message was posted by Ellen Lamb Buck and then  Donna Marchione Heyner tagged me.

Here is the message:  I got a Facebook message and Renee Spangenberger Lucchese is looking for any of her classmates from PHS Class of 1969 to reconnect with.  I understand that Renee is going through some hard times right now and would like to hear from her classmates or even to visit her.  If you can reach out to Renee on Facebook, I would really appreciate it.  Thanks in advance.

If you aren't on Facebook, perhaps you can reach out from this site via email.  Let's bombard Renee to help her feel connected. Stay safe everyone, Betsy

Monday- August 17, 2020

This past week has been a difficult one for the Class of 1969 with the passing of a much beloved and respected classmate, Jonathan Holderman.  Today we learn of the passing of another much beloved and respected member of the Class of 1970, Jimmy Duquette.

Jon's obituary has been posted and numerous comments have been entered.  I contacted Curry & Giordano Funeral Home of this website so that Jon's wife and family can see the comments.

Once the obituary for Jimmy has been posted online, I will add it under his name on our Memory Page.

2020 is proving to be a tough year for all of us.  Stay in touch with one another and be kind. Stay well everyone.

I just want to let you all know that we received the following Thank You note from Lou Panzanaro, Jr.

As most of you probably have heard by now, on Thursday, July 25, 2019, Sharon Skinner from the class of 1967, lost her son Bryan R. Panzanaro due to a car accident while on a business trip in Seattle.  Bryan was a son, a husband with a beautiful wife and 4 beautiful daughters, a brother, nephew, cousin, friend, co-worker and friend to  hundreds of people.  From what I have learned of him he was the epitome of what a good person is and should be.  It is unfathomable that Sharon has now lost both of her sons.

Bryan's wake is today at Nardone's Funeral Home on Washington Street in Peekskill and his funeral will be tomorrow morning in Ossining.

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked for donations to the Louis W. Panzanaro III Scholarship Fund. The fund will soon be known as the Louis and Bryan Panzanaro Scholarship Fund.

On behalf of the PHS Classes of 1967, 1968, 1969 and 1970 I have sent a check for $100 to this fund in honor of Bryan.  May Bryan rest in eternal peace and may Sharon and Lou Panzanaro, Jr. as well as Bryan's wife and daughters and the entire Panazanaro, Skinner and Vesce families find peace and comfort from their memories and the love and support of their friends.

Obituary of Bryan R. Panzanaro

It is with great sadness that the family of Bryan R. Panzanaro announces his sudden passing.  While on a business trip to Seattle Washington on Thursday, July 25, 2019, the 45 year-old lifelong Peekskill resident passed away. Bryan was a Regional Manager in the Aviation Division of ABM Industries Inc. which is headquartered in New York City.

In an internal communication announcing his shocking passing to the employees of ABM, he was eulogized by his company as “an incredible manager, colleague, father and husband.  His dedication and commitment have been an integral part of our success and growth in the Northeast.”  The statement went on to quote his manager, who said, “He is the sweetest, hardest-working, humble and caring person I know.”

Bryan was a graduate of Peekskill High School, Class of 1992, and earned a Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Nevada at Las Vegas (UNLV).

Bryan was an avid basketball player, fan and coach.  He served as the Head Coach for the Modified and Junior Varsity Basketball Teams at Peekskill High School, as well as Assistant Head Coach of the Varsity squad and enriched the lives of hundreds of young men along the way.  He loved playing golf, watching and rooting for the New York Knicks, Yankees and the New York Giants.  He had a green thumb and enjoyed spending time in the kitchen and at the barbecue grill. Most of all however, Bryan loved cooking Sunday dinner for his wife and daughters which he did just about every week of the year.

Bryan leaves behind his wife Kimberly (Vesce) and four beautiful daughters; Emilie (18), Ava (15), Nina (13) and Ella (8).  He is survived by his parents Sharon Skinner and Louis W. Panzanaro Jr., sisters Stacy, Kim and Sarah, and brother Michael.  He is also survived by his mother and father-in-law, sister and brother-in-law, step-mother, step-sister, step-brother and a large number of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many, many friends.  He is predeceased by his brother Louis W. Panzanaro III.

Visitation to be held at Joseph F. Nardone Funeral Home on Wednesday, July 31, 2019 from 3:00pm to 9:00pm.

Mass of Christian Burial to take place at St. Augustine Church in Ossining, NY on Thursday, August 1, 2019 at 10:00am.

Interment to follow at Assumption Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Bryan's name to the Louis W. Panzanaro, III. Scholarship fund, which will be renamed to the Louis and Bryan Panzanaro scholarship fund in the near future.

Donations can be mailed to 12 Amy Lane New Windsor, NY 12553.

Friday, 2/15/2019...submitted by Cathy Pisani, class of 1970, here is the obituary for teacher Mr. John Zee.  Even though I was not one of his students, Imremember him as a very nice man.  May he Rest In Peace.

Sonya (1936-2018) and John (1934-2019) Zee Teachers, World Travelers
UTICA - College sweethearts, together for over sixty years, Sonya and John Zee have been reunited after eleven months. Sonya died at home in Schyler Commons, North Utica, on March 7, 2018. John passed away on February 6, 2019 at the St. Luke's Home.
Sonya (Sunny) was born on April 4, 1936 in Jamaica, Queens, to Mary Casper and Peter Rudy, an immigrant from Zyrawa, Russia, who today would be considered a "dreamer". She lived in the Bronx and on weekends, would join her father and his brothers while they constructed three houses in Peekskill. She moved there when she was six and after graduating, as valedictorian, from Hendrick Hudson High School (Montrose) she began her studies as a Spanish major at Alfred University, where she met John.
John was born on May 4, 1934 in Wilkes Barre, PA, to Polish immigrants Anna Fhyck and John Zluchowski. John was the youngest of six and spent most of his time outside playing sports, eventually achieving the honor of "All Nicholson Street". His athleticism led to a last minute football scholarship and an eventual degree in Psychology at Alfred University.
After college, John was a paratrooper at Ft. Benning, GA and an Army lieutenant at Ft. Ord (CA). He and Sonya made their way back to the East Coast, taking up residence first, in Peekskill and then in Montrose. Both worked as educators: Sonya at Sunset Nursery School in Montrose, John at Peekskill Military Academy and Peekskill High school, where he taught World History and coached football, track, swimming and girls' basketball. They both took Master's classes at UConn Danbury and John also commuted to Fordham and CCNY for classes. Their careers touched thousands of lives and their home was filled with gifts from grateful students and parents.
Sonya and John loved to travel. They started with their kids, Linda and Steve, in a VW bus and one summer, traveled from NY to California and back, visiting National Parks, MLB stadiums and Disneyland. Later, they upgraded to a pop up camper and eventually, to international travel. They visited over 100 countries and always had plans for the next trip.
They were the perfect couple, although of different temperaments. Sonya was quiet, stubborn, musical and a perfectionist. John was outgoing, athletic, handy and funny. Those who knew him best could answer his (in)famous question, "What would you rather be or a cow?" with the only correct answer, "The higher the fewer". Sonya loved musicals, butter crunch candy, brie and Kriek beer. She hated food with lumps, jury duty and the current administration. John loved peanut butter, history and long walks. He hated gum snapping, Spam and Nixon. They both loved the Mets, the Jets, casinos and shows on Broadway, at West Point's Eisenhower Hall and at the Stanley Theater.
They are survived and missed by their daughter, Linda (Randy Vitullo), of Holland Patent; son, Steve (Joni), of Front Royal, VA; grandson, Parker (Ohio State); and granddaughter, Jenelle (Nate Taylor and son, Anson), of Front Royal, VA. Sonya is survived by her sister, Barbara (Bruce Bracebridge) and Sandy (Bob Interdonato) and their children and grandchildren. John is survived by his sister, Josie, her children and the children of his sister, Jean and his brothers, Joe and Mike.
The family would like to thank those who most helped Sonya and John over the past year: the staff at St. Luke's Hospital (especially Mally) and St. Luke's Home, everyone at Brookdale Senior Living, where John resided for seven months and Shelly Nunno-Evans for her invaluable advice.
Arrangements were handled by Heintz Funeral Service. There will be a Memorial Service, in the summer, at daughter, Linda's house (date TBA). Those who wish may contribute to one of several organizations that Sonya actively supported: Humane Society, Defenders of Wildlife, Hospice, Planned Parenthood, Wounded Warriors or Democratic National Committee.

Hi Everyone,

Ellen Lamb Buck sent me a flash drive with all of the pictures she took at our 50th Reunion this past Sunday evening at Colonial Terrace.  I put them on this website.  I am in the process of identifying everyone but it is time consuming so I will work on it each day until done.

If you have photos that you want to share, I am not sure if you can download them yourself or not on the website.  Send them to me either in an email at onidor@yahoo.com or in a flash drive mailed to me at 748 Lake Artesia Lane, Fuquay Varina, NC 27526.  I will be happy to download them for you.

Thank you all for coming out and sharing in this monumental reunion.  I feel satisfied that Kathi and I succeeded in making it a very memorable occasion.

Betsy
