Edward C. Goldman, 77, Attorney and Businessman

Edward "Ed" Cohen Goldman, 77, an attorney and former executive of a paper company, died Sept. 1 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center. A resident of Wilmington, N.C., he was formerly of Philadelphia.

Goldman graduated from Philadelphia's Central High School in 1949 before attending Dickinson College, where he received B.A. and J.D. degrees.

He practiced law in Philadelphia and was admitted to the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.

A veteran of the U.S. Army with the Judge Advocate General Corps, he was a former president of H. Goldman & Sons, Inc., a Philadelphia paper company.

In retirement, Goldman was a volunteer of the Cape Fear Guardian Ad Litem Association and a tutor for Junior Achievement of the Cape Fear Region.

He also was chairman of the Covenants and Security committee in his community in Landfall.

He was an avid golfer and tennis player.

Goldman is survived by his wife, Jacqueline O'Neill Goldman; daughters Diane Goldman, Cynthia Mulholland, Paula Best and Kristina Richmond; sons Erik Ginkinger, George Goldman and Peter Ginkinger; and many grandchildren.

He was predeceased by a sister, Adele Goldman Rosenbluth.
