Patty Hicks (Marlatt-Caito-Psioda)

I was lucky enough to have married my high school sweetheart and best friend, Roy.  His death after just 10 months of being married (and only together 60 days of that time), forever changed my life.  Not a day goes by after almost 47 years, that I don't think of him.  I am thankful that Roy knew how much he was loved, not only by me, but my family, his 8 brothers and sisters, and his best friend, Michael Lebedda.

Please remember those who gave their lives for your freedom.

I had some classes with Roy and thought of him as my friend

I am very sorry about your loss. He was a great guy.

Patty, what a tender tribute to Roy. I didn't know him, but it makes me wish I had.

Thank you for sharing, Patty. It is an important reminder that every person, who gives up his/ her life for our freedom, is more than a  name and has loved ones who grieve a life cut short.  I'm so sorry that you had so little time together and for your loss. We never know what life brings. I hope that you are well and happy.

Roy was one of the nicest human beings that I ever knew. We only became friends in the 10th grade but we where good friends from then on. I had the honor to be an invited guest to Roy and Patti Hick's wedding what a blast. My heart was broken when we lost him. He will always remain a loving memory. Miss you Roy, thank you for your friendship, and service.

Vicki

Pat,  thank you for including me. I too miss Roy and often think what we'd be doing to upset the spouses. I know he was crazy about you. What we have to do is reminisce about the good times we had while he was here and know we will see him again. And I still think about you too. Michael.

Patty,

I was never close with Roy but friendly with him at Allderdice.  When I learned of his passing many years ago, I remember being proud to have known him and in a sense upset I did not serve our country as he did.  And I never knew of the relationship between you and Roy.

All I can say is thanks to him and the best to you.  And one thing I always do and have done is proudly stand for the national anthem whenever the opportunity in appreciation of all those who served.

Without getting too political, it is the one way I can thank all those who have defended the flag and ultimately me...which is contrary to Colin Kaepernick who has no idea why he should be grateful to live in this great country.  It is people like Roy who make that possible!
