Paul Boone

It is 8:30 and I have absolutely no desire to go to work...someone help me get off the davenport....

Amy how was Alaska to live. I am thinking of transfering up there. All depends on if I can get a fully funded move to Alaska.

Lois Hall and Oates is the best band ever. No big hair, no screaching guitars, just pure no-nonsense good music. It fits everywhere, elevators, stadiums, side bars, church...everywhere......

Donald Rusnak

Boonie,
Do we have a large boarder patrol contingent in Alaska?

09/16/09 04:08 PM #238

Paul Boone

Don,

Its not that big. We have a few stations. Alot of customs jobs up there. BP along the Canadian border stopping drugs not really illegal immigration.

I like catching dope. Thats why I want to go there.

I just remembered......MILLI VANILLI....they were the best band of 1988....kick ass.....

Lois Vargo (Bondurich)

Hello again
Craig,
Haven't you heard of going green? The car pool lane to Hawaii is open but only for paddle boats. :)
Paul,
Milli Vanilli wasn't bad. But not the greatest back in '89.

09/18/09 09:29 PM #241

Paul Boone

Lois, you are correct. They were not the band of 1989..it was 1988....

The best band of 1989 was Fine Young Cannibals....

09/21/09 12:28 AM #242

Lois Vargo (Bondurich)

Ok. So this has nothing to do with the above messages.
Playing PacMan and Asteroids on a computer is nothing like or even as fun as playing it on the original arcade set up.
Anybody agree?

09/21/09 12:50 PM #243

Amy Lapinski (Bartels)

Don,

We barely survived the transition....I severly pissed someone off in the Air Forvce assingment world. You were in Anchorage, right? We used to travel to Anchorage to take our daughter school clothes shopping. They had a wal mart and bigger mall. Farrbanks is just getting a wal mart! If you can belive that!

PAUL,
Artisa is just about as bad as Clovis. Have you ever been there. # stop lights, Super Wal-Mart is the place to be and the highlight of the summer is "music fesitival" I am all for small towns, but geesh, that one takes the cake.

We loved living in Alaska so much so that we extended our tour for 2 years. You would love it. Where we were the summers were amazing.....23 1/2 hours of daylight, just dip behind the horizon and back up it came......however the winters were brutal. The coldest it ever got was the Thanksgiving we were living....-70 and there was 180 inches of snow.....it was time to go! Becareful where you get up there, some places are worse then others. My hubby was going to be a trooper up there, but then he found out that he would have gotten stationed in Barrow, (look it up sometime) cold, dark and more cold and dark.

If we are talking about the iconing 80's music let us not forget about the most awesome 80's band ever.....GUN'S & ROSES! Who knew he would be such a perfectionist and it would be 20 years beofore his next album./ God i loved Slash!

i say we all meet in Venice, Italy in San Marco Square....there is an awesome cafe where you can sit outside and watch all the tourist while the band serandes you! But, if that is to fuffy for you then lets meet in MUNICH,Germany at Oktoberfest, I will see you in front of the huge Hofbräu tent. If you can't find the tent, just follow puke hill to the bottom and there it is!

Paul, can you send me the link for the Bridge to Europe, i want to make sure i have exact change for the tolls!

09/22/09 11:37 AM #244

Donald Rusnak

Amy,
My wife and I spent a bunch of time talking to the "locals" while we were there. We stayed at a "bed and breakfast" which was one of several spare rooms in this lady's house. Most of her clients were bush pilots and pilots for UPS and FedEx. I've been to that Walmart. Some of the funniest/scariest people I've ever seen! Fairbanks is like 5 to 1 men to women too isn't it? I talked to a female pilot who lived in Fairbanks and she said she wore a wedding ring just to keep guys away. Very funny.

09/27/09 05:25 PM #246

Lois Vargo (Bondurich)

Auh Hec, Gina,
Lets just see how many of our reunion attendies still have or can wear their senior prom formal wear to the reunion. LOL :P :)
Just kidding, the guys would still be comfortable and we would still have to fuss.

09/29/09 11:26 AM #247

Amy Lapinski (Bartels)

Lois,

I think I still have mine and i think it might still fit....

09/30/09 08:13 AM #248

Craig Hopple

You guys are hysterical! Im probably not going to recognize any of ya's and look like a dick for it. Just come up to me and gimme a big kiss and say hello. Even you too Boone!

09/30/09 05:31 PM #249

Paul Boone

I am kissing no one. I live in the land of swine flu and I am not sharing it.

Amazing Amy you still have you prom dress. Fortunately for me I did nto attend that event. So I have no memory of what any one looked like at the prom. However, afterwards I did meet a few of the fellas for drinks and nonsense....and for what have yous and what nots....

Gina, why am I the King of Useless knowledge?

Please everyone do yourselves a favor and google "Squidbillies full episodes"...sit back and watch the hi-jinx of a Georgia born squid and his family....possibly the funniest cartoon ever written...ever...way better than Super Jail or Family Guy

09/30/09 08:16 PM #250

Gina Simeone (Gilroy)

boonie ..your question was answered in your following paragraph.. squidbillies? u know that is not a bad thing to be.. u could definitely be a lifeline on millionaire..by the way first check to arrive today came from michele rodeghiero..way to go michele maybe there will be a special prize for u at reunion!

10/01/09 12:38 PM #251

Donald Rusnak

Gina, I should get honorable mention in that "first check to get there" thing. Mine had to come farther (check the post date), and I had to admit to my wife that I had no idea where my checkbook was or if I even still had one!

I feel so nostalgic! I wrote a check AND sent a letter through the MAIL! I guess it is like riding a bike.

I want to make sure that when a solar event knocks out all satellites and global communication of all sorts is gone. I'll be the first of the weak to die. After all if it is survival of the fittest, I'd rather be the first one gone rather than the second to the last. :)

Does anyone else worry about where they will get soap and toothpaste when society collapses?

10/04/09 09:27 PM #252

Alisa Barrett (Menendez)

donald i still live like its 1989 just got my first cell phone about a week ago.and waiting for stirrup pants to come back in style.who shopped at the merry go round? and does any one remember help line 829-1341?daveys mine at the pittston plaza, and almost every day our junior year there was a bomb scare called in.

10/04/09 09:36 PM #253

Mark Johndrow

remember them all. How about Z cavaricchi pants rolling your jeans at the cuff. Not having call waiting. Calling the radio stations to request a song .

10/05/09 12:47 AM #254

Lois Vargo (Bondurich)

Ok this is getting hard to believe. Donald your the master with Sal on the stage stuff and production room. And Alisa how...HOW is it possible not to have a cell phone until now???? We only lived in NEPA, not Zimbobway. Oh wait I know some one from there and they have a cell phone. Hey just kidden. But if we keep flash backen' like this, we may actually remember what we did on senior skip day.
And Donald my check will probably get there right on Oct. 30th, I am sending my check via pigion carrier. :)

10/05/09 12:33 PM #255

Amy Lapinski (Bartels)

I to remember them all....does that make us nostalgic or old? How about everytime I hear Bon Jovi on the readio I think about the prom......I just went to go see him in concert.....he still sounds so good! Lois, i remember where I was on Senior skip day and what we weren't supposed to be doing. I will kill my daughter if that is what she is doing!

My oldest daughter had to mail something to her boyfreind last night and had to ask me how to address and envelope and how many stamps you were suppose to put on the envelope.....I said " are you serious" She promtply told me that she "has never done this before"...again the only thing I could say was "really"......ah, life before the computer age.

It is funny to watch the malls and advertisements, becuase everything that we wore is now back in style. Alisa, the stir-ups are headed your way. Our mall has them and the girls just think they are the best ever! You will never guess what my youngest is going to be for halloween....and 80's girl! and everything we need for her cosutme is in her closet, the neon skirt, the leggings, the neon top, the fingerless gloves......I guess what they say is true, what once was old is new again!

Mark, it is funny you should mention call waiting.....we just got it last year. I can not stand it. i think it is the rudest thing ever.....but my kids can't live without it!

I will admit that even though we never needed cell phones before, i would be lost with out mine. How else would me daughter send me smiley faces ever 20 seconds!?

10/06/09 06:47 AM #256

Andrea Volpetti (Lidle)

I was looking over the dress code in the student handbook for my kids school (Scranton School District) and was surpised to see the stirrups are NOT allowed!

First, what is wrong with stirrups? You can't be more covered up for God's sake. Are they worse than the mini mini mini skirt and heals that the girls are wearing now? Second, I can't believe that they were included since they are not really "in." Where would you really find stirrups other than their mother's attic?

10/06/09 11:46 AM #257

Donald Rusnak

HA! That's great! I remember all that crap. Stirrups... Davie's mine... Now if I can remember any of you at the reunion it will be amazing. :) It really freaks me out that all that stuff comes back to me so easily, but I still can't remember my own phone number. Just goes to show you the mind has a finite capacity. You have to get rid of stuff every once in a while.

Here is a question. What is the most random fact you remember from '89 that you should have forgotten? I remember my locker combination from senior year and my bank account number from my bank in Pittston.

Lois, I had to use donkey, because the pigeon was taken. Now I know by who.

Alisa - you are killing me. Just got a cell phone?? How did you keep your pager so long? You know they can send pictures and stuff too right?

Andrea- One word. Scranton. Look closely, you probably can't send your kid to school with a bananna clip either, or was that roach clips with feathers? I can't remember.

I can't believe I forgot to mention Senior Skip Day! Still in the top 20 Bueller days of my life. We went out to the reservoir swimming and just hanging out. We had a beer ball that no one wanted to carry from the car through woods to the water. So we drank a bunch and hid it. In case someone looked in the car. I almost drowned. Chic had to swim back to me until my arm cramp went away. After that we decided to drive to Jitty Joe's and stopped in Moosic to jump off the railroad bridge.

All that crap and I sill loved it! Good times.

How did I survive?

10/06/09 09:30 PM #259

Paul Boone

Alyssa, I am proud of you. You just got a cellular communicator last week. I got one a few years back and I have answered it a total of 20 times. I absolutly hate the phone. I not really sure if 20 people have the number. Stand firm sister continue to live with me in the 80's. Sans the hair, clothes, and cars.

By the by what in Christ's name are stirrup pants? Are they pants that had a loop around the heel like baseball socks? If that is true when did they go out of fashion? Girls in Laredo wear them all the time. Of course on every corner there is a Ropa Usada joint. Buy clothes by the pound..no shit..most places charge .40 a pound...WOOOOOOOO life in Mexicolito....

Don, I still write checks and send everyting by mail. I think this internet thing is a fad..Won't last..as for the fall of civilazation..I want to be second to last...God hates a coward....

I was blacked out for most of 1989 and well for most of the 80's..I discovered alcohol in that decade....God how I love brown liquor.....whiskey, bourbon, scotch, etc....

Senior skip day...I think i was with Brian Giambra, Mark Kiesinger, and Jimmy Allardyce...for sure drinking somewhere...

10/12/09 01:44 AM #260

Lois Vargo (Bondurich)

Boy, all I could say after hearing all of that is "I hope our kids aren't reading this!!!" I would probably get in trouble. They (my kids)would definately tell my mom on me. HA HA. I know where I was on senior skip day... Packing like 18 of us in (dang I forgot his name) in ____ little two seater truck and then we all decided to climb a tree to see how many of us could do it. I do remember I got up that stupid tree, but couldn't get back down.

Donold I can't believe you did all that on senior skip day. How earlly did you all start the day? Oh and I almost forgot about those cute feathery hair accessories. I think I still have mine somewhere.
