Nothing like waiting until the last possible minute: just like procrastinating my papers in high school and college... Okay, let's see. I went to Carleton College in Northfield, MN for four years, a highlight of which was studying theater in London for a semester senior year. And I'm still a theater geek; I just played Jean Louise (grown-up Scout) in a community theater production of To Kill a Mockingbird.
I moved to Boston in 1983. I worked in arts administration for about 12 years, then property management, and now I'm in the public relations department for a cancer hospital, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
Those of you who keep up with celebrity gossip may know that my older brother married Marcia Cross from Desperate Housewives in 2006, and they had lovely twin daughters two years ago. How they met is a good story and I'll tell you if you'd like to hear it. What you may not know is that with the help of a specialist at Dana-Farber, Tom beat throat cancer just this year. So my family has much to celebrate.
Sadly, we lost our mom to a brain aneurysm on September 11 last year. Bruce Canny spoke eloquently at her funeral, in fact. He has always been a great friend to my family and we love him dearly.
I look forward to seeing a lot of you this weekend. My memory has gotten much worse over 40, however, as Bruce and Bill Shaver can both attest, so please forgive me if I just nod along and smile when stories of glory days are being exchanged. I have a little plaque hanging up in my kitchen, that used to hang in Mom's, and sums up perfectly what we are both like: "I live in my own little world. But it's okay; they know me there."
