Richard Lyons

Just returned from our 50th year class reunion and had a marvelous experience seeing everyone and visiting Poland for the first time. I marveled at the changes in both Poland and my classmates--as I am sure they wondered about me also!!! Again, cudos to Lee Raybuck and his committee for an outstanding effort. My history for anyone interested is the following diatribe: I graduated from University of Michigan in Pharmacy 1962; Graduated from Ohio State U. College of Medicine-1967; Intership at University of North Carolina-1968; University of Florida, Dept of General Surgery-1968-69; US Army and Viet Nam-1969-71; Upstate Medical Center(Syracuse)New York, Dept. of Otolargngology/Head & Neck Surgery Residency-1971-74; The Everett Clinic, Dept of Otolarngology-1974-1994. Retired in 1994.

One I did not mention at the reunion had to do with the junior year play for Miss McCallister's class. My role in the play was to be this free spirit bopping out on stage swinging a small chain and plopping on the couch. Well, it did not turn out that way. I came out on the stage and looked out at the audience and immediately froze!! The chain became a rigid-like stick, I could not think of a line. Poor Marsha Rocky was behind the curtain trying to prompt me. Finally, I remembered a line but unfortunately it was in the next act. Richard Frederick heard it and thought it was his que and came bounding out on the stage. From that point on I do not remember a thing. I do remember that Miss McCallister would not speak to me for quite a while and never ask me to do anything again! Is it any wonder that I could not get up in front of anyone for
years?!! Heck, I couldn't lead a group of 2 in silent prayer!! That is my story and I think my most embarrassing moment of my life.
