Gordon Nesbitt

Attended Cal Poly / Engineering while living as a caretaker at the First Christian Science Church (S/W corner San Antonio & San Bernadino). After graduation, walked across the street and started a 40-year career at General Dynamics. Lived and worked extensively in Europe and the middle east. And have traveled to all continents and to the extremes of latitude. Married too many times. One offspring late in life, Trevor, who recently graduated from UCBerkeley and now chases code at Facebook. I retired from Combat Systems work seven years ago and now work as an aviation advocate for a national pilot's non-profit and administrate a local scholarship and serve as mentor for teenage student pilots. I'm an active private pilot and aircraft owner based out of Bob Maxwell Memorial Field (KOKB) in Oceanside, CA. Found my soulmate, Genie, six years ago and am now the happiest that I've ever been.

I had a largely "low observable" presence at PHS. Classmates from my neighborhood asked to be dropped-off a block away from school so they wouldn't be seen riding into the PHS parking lot with me.

I do remember being shot at while playing softball during PE. Fortunately, for all involved, he was a bad shot.

One significant and lifelong friendship came from PHS. Steve Lundin and I shared then and still today a love for aviation. Steve, also a pilot and also now retired, was a Combat Systems Engineer at NSWC, China Lake. During our Jr and Sr. PHS years, we would often ditch class, "steal" my dad's airplane (I didn't have a license then) and go chase cows down by Prado Dam.
