John Lamiman

John Lamiman

John Lamiman was born March 9, 1953. He passed away in Reidsville, NC on Oct 14, 2015 at the age of 62. He studied at Guilford College and at the University of NC at Greensboro. Over the years, he taught English at Guilford College and the College of Southern Maryland, as well language and history at the New Garden Friends School in Greensboro. At one point, he even taught English on the USS America in the Indian Ocean. He had a spiritual intensity that was quietly Quaker and deeply connected to the natural earth. He traveled everywhere, from Kenya to Sri Lanka to Mexico and Wales. In July 2010, John suffered a fall and sustained critical injuries. As a result, he became a quadriplegic, only able to move above the neck. John used his interest in building to remodel his home, adapting technology to better serve his new needs. John had that gentle and fierce "wilderness of the soul" that celebrated life, no matter what.
