My condolences to Michael's family.  Although I attended Churchill HS only from April, 1968 (freshman year) through my sophomore year that ended in June, 1969, he was one of the few students I got to know.  He sat directly behind me next to Greg Cunliffe in Biology class (Ms. Radany) and was maybe in some other classes with me (PT).  Also, that school year he moved to Lakeside Terrace on Democracy Blvd. where my family lived the year my father was in Viet Nam and I got to know him better - long talks about everything ongoing at WCHS in the hallways when I was collecting fees for delivering the Washington Post. The day after the school year ended, we moved to Alabama for my father's transfer and I remember him waving to us as we drove away from the apartment building.  He passed away the day after my birthday.  May he RIP.

Wow this hit me like a ton of bricks....

Just the other day I was reminicing the "Test Drive" of Mike's red Opel GT on the way to OC via old 404 @ Denton, back before the bypass. Not too clear anymore what lead up to it...but what is crystal clear is it is a dark summer night, I am "blowing out the carbon" triple digits on the speedometer going into the 1st curve into Denton. I still see my peripheral vision: Mike in the passenger seat and beyond him through his window that police car tucked in the shoulder of the road, ....its lights never came on.  Slowed down going though town and changed drivers....all the early 1970's beach trips with Mike and other classmates/workmates tend to merge together in trying to recall what we did when we got there.

Clearly thinking of Mike, before knowing of his passing. He is missed, but never forgotten.

Rest peacefully my friend...
