Graduated from Texas Tech w/ B.S. in Home Economics; went to work as one of the 1st 4 women in Texas as a State Parole Officer; enrolled @ Sam Houston State in the Criminal Justice Dept---didn't finish M.S. Moved from Austin back to Lubbock & spent the next 32 years as a CFRE (certified fundraising executive) with United Way, Texas Tech University & Covenant Hospital. In 2008 became a Master Gardener. Recognized with the Women Helping Women Award in 1983 for conducting a 2 year feasibility study that established Women's Protective Services, received the Women In Communications Award in 1991 & received Texas Tech Distinguished Alumnae Award in 2005. Have since served as Komen Race for the Cure Chair, interim President of United Way, Advisory Committee of the Lubbock Junior League, served 6 years on Session of Westminster Presbyterian Church & currently on the University Medical Center's Laura Bush's Women's Health Initiative, have been elected to Covenant Foundation Board & V-P of the CH Foundation.
