We were so sorry to learn about the passing of Bonnie McSweeney on October 4, 2023 in Florida. Her motto was Live, Love & Laugh. We send our deepest sympathy to her family.

We were shocked today to hear about the passing of Leonard Sobieski two days before his 79th birthday. Here is his obituary from the Watkins Brothers Funeral Home (Howell, MI) website.

Leonard Joseph Sobieski, 78, passed away on Saturday, January 7, 2023 in Howell, MI.

Visitation will be held on Friday, January 13, 2023 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Watkins Brothers Funeral Homes, MacDonald Chapel, 315 N. Michigan Ave., Howell, MI 48843.

Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, January 14, 2023 at 11:00 am at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 440 E. Washington St., Howell, MI. Visitation will be held at 10:00 am until the start of Mass.

Leonard was preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Eugenia, and his brother Raymond. 

He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Mary Beth. Beloved father to Laura (Doug) Fletcher, Lisa (Scott) Smith, Joe (Melissa McFarlane). Treasured grandfather to Brett, Jacob, Hailey, and Hilary and great-grandfather to Terra, Everly, and Brody. Dear brother to Camille Burch. Dear uncle to Vince (Annie), Sandi Burch, Cori (Doug) Schlimmer, and the late Tommy Burch.

Leonard was a dedicated firefighter for 37 years at Redford Township Fire Department where he retired as Fire Chief. He was active member of the Howell ELK’s, enjoyed boating, golfing, and attending hunting camp with his family. One of his passions was traveling to Florida during the winter months with Mary Beth.

Memorial contributions are suggested to Meals on Wheels Livingston County.

Very sad news from Northern Michigan is that our classmate Paul Voorheis has passed away. His wife Mary Ann passed away unexpectedly in August. Both were beloved teachers and very active in their community. Paul was also a long-time member of a band called The Keelhaulers.
