In Memory of Sally Forster

Sally was listed on our "In Memory" list of classmates, without a date of death.  I passed on to Nikki Gedeon (Black) my knowledge of her passing and she asked me to share with fellow classmates.

Sally holds a special place in my heart, she was my first date, and I hers.  We went to homecoming in 8th grade, my Dad provide limo service; our friendship continued through school dances; the highlight being 8th grade camp. After eighth grade we never had a class together, our meetings were by chance in the hallways.

She was killed in an auto accident along with her cousin in either 63 or 64 returning home from a weekend at Northern Michigan University, they were guests of her cousin's friend attending (I think) NMU's winter festival. On the way home; they hit a patch of ice, lost control of the car hitting a tree, both died instantly.

I attended Sally's memorial service, and was touched by Sally's mom; we met only once; when I picked Sally up for homecoming. I started to introduce myself and was stopped, as she knew who I was, remembering me as Sally's first date. She made light conversation of Sally's excitement of her first high school dance and helping us through that awkward experience of pinning on her corsage.

Sally's memory has lived on in my heart for all these years, she was not forgotten
