Here's the "Reader's Digest" version of my life....

After 4 years of studying animal science at Va Tech (Rosa Brooks and I roomed together all 4 years!), I moved to the Shenandoah Valley where I had an idyllic life -- working for the Va Dept.of Agriculture and living with a friend on her farm near Woodstock. Married Paul (we met at VaTech) in 1978 and moved to Roanoke Va for a short spell. Paul found a job with the NC DOT, and we eventually migrated south to North Carolina and have put down roots in the Raleigh Durham area. My only focus with animals these days is the rescue dog (a labradoodle) we recently adopted. I am now in the compliance field of human subjects research, working for one of the NIH institutes (National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences), and I love it. Work and the studies done here are interesting.

We have one son, Nate, who has been a joy in his twenties....boy, were those teens fun. NOT! He's a joy of a son -- and so "responsible" it's frightening! As many of you have reflected -- you learn a lot from life.

The past few years I have taken up bicycling and hiking -- although the latter has been curtailed by the nasty broken foot I got this summer. My sister and I have joined our cousins for hiking/backpacking and biking fun in Utah and Idaho. This year I went to Idaho in a cast, so I enjoyed the view from the cabin deck rather than from the mountaintops. Hoping to get back on my feet by Spring. Can still bike!

I am enjoying reconnecting with my Richmond friends. One of the things I miss most is not having connections with many of you since we left TJ. I did run into folks visiting their family members at Westminster Canterbury where my mother lived until she passed this summer.

We love NC, and I while I love Richmond, life here is too good to leave. I can't wait to see everyone!
